Bring to a boil, uncovered, over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
Add oats; reduce heat to medium.

Stir in cinnamon, ginger and cardamom until fully combined, about 30 seconds.
Divide among 4 bowls; top with brown sugar and the remaining 1/2 cup milk.
