Applesauce ensures the texture is creamy yet light while also providing balance to the sweet-tart flavor of the oats.

If you dont have Granny Smith apples on hand, Fuji, Gala or Honeycrisp apples work as well.

Crushed honey-roasted peanuts mimic the coating of a caramel apple, but any salty-sweet nut would be delicious.

Spoon 1 cup of the mixture into each of 4 (8-oz.)

Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or up to 4 days.

To serve, top each jar with 1/4 cup apples and drizzle with 3/4 teaspoon caramel sauce.

Sprinkle with crushed nuts, if desired.
