While sugar is present in a lot of foods, it’s important todifferentiate between natural and added sugar.
Natural sugar is present in foods such as fruit, starchy vegetables, carbohydrates and unsweetened dairy.

These are all considered added sugar even though honey and maple syrup are naturally produced sugar.
Commonly consumed foods with added sugarare sugar-sweetened beveragessuch as sodaand sauces, including ketchup and BBQ sauce.
Read the nutrition label on packaged foods to see how much added sugar is in each serving.
